R.A.D. Automachine and T/A Engines Teaming Up to Provide Big Bonus for 2015 Rookie of the Year Contenders at Stafford Motor Speedway
Stafford Springs, CT — Thanks to Don Wood from R.A.D. Automachine and Tony Alteri and Bill O’Sullivan from T/A Engines, Stafford’s SK Light and Limited Late Model rookie drivers will be racing for a hefty amount of cash during the 2015 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season. R.A.D. Automachine will also sponsor the DARE Stock Rookie of the Year for the third consecutive season. T/A Engines and R.A.D. Automachine will each contribute $500 for a total of $1,000 to the SK Light and $1,000 to the Limited Late Model Rookies of the Year, while R.A.D. Automachine will contribute a $500 bonus to the DARE Stock Rookie of the Year.
“This is a great way for us to be able to give something back to the racers who have done business with us,” said Tony Alteri and Bill O’Sullivan, owners of T/A Engines. “We’ve been doing the crate engines for the SK Lights for 7 years now and the guys at Stafford have done a lot of business with us. A lot of our SK Light customers have made the transition into the SK Modified® division and we’ve been able to have a big presence in that division because of that.”
“A lot of people look at the SK Lights, Limited Late Models, and DARE Stocks as the lower divisions, but they race just as hard and put on just as great of a show as the premier divisions do,” said Don Wood, owner of R.A.D. Automachine. “Since Stafford began their crate engine program, we’ve done a lot of business with teams from those three divisions and this program is a great way to be able to give something back to the drivers in those divisions. A lot of drivers in these three divisions are just getting started out in racing and maybe they don’t have the biggest budgets, so it’s nice to be able to put up a bonus like this that will help them out. Maybe some drivers will see this bonus and think about making a move up to a division or to come race at Stafford for the first time. We’ve had a lot of fun keeping track of the rookie battles the last couple of seasons and I’m sure it will be fun again in 2015.”
The winning rookie drivers will be paid in $100 increments for each race they attend during the 2016 season. If the reigning Rookie of the Year driver doesn’t compete at Stafford in 2016, the payments will go the next eligible rookie driver from 2015 that is racing in 2016. In order to be eligible to be considered a rookie in a selected division, a driver cannot have completed more than 5 races in any previous season in their selected or higher division at Stafford Motor Speedway.
