NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Coming to Motordrome

See the Stars of Tomorrow In Action

Smithton, PA (December 5, 2014) – Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott capped historic seasons with championships in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series respectively. Darrell Wallace, Jr. grabbed four race wins and finished the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season in third place.

What do these three racing superstars have in common? All are veterans of NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series, the top rung on stock car racing’s developmental ladder.

And racing fans in Southwest Pennsylvania will have a special opportunity to see the next generation of rising stars in 2015 when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East makes its inaugural visit to Motordrome Speedway on Saturday, August 15.

“We’re excited to get the K&N Pro Series here for our fans,” said Todd Melfi, owner and president of Motordrome Speedway. “When you look at the number of racing superstars who’ve come through the K&N Pro Series, you know that you’re watching the next wave of superstars competing in really great racing.”

Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Trevor Bayne and Ryan Blaney are also among the list of stars who competed in NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series in recent years. Seventeen-year old Ben Rhodes captured the 2014 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East title in his rookie season.

NASCAR recently unveiled a new body for the K&N Pro Series, featuring a nearly identical look to the Sprint Cup Series cars.

“We think Motordrome Speedway will be a tremendous test for these up-and-coming drivers, and you can bet they’ll be eager to prove themselves,” said Melfi. “Our half-mile banked oval is the perfect venue for these cars and drivers, and you can count on non-stop action.”

Motordrome Speedway is located off of Exit 49 of I-70 in Smithton, PA just 25 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. Tickets for the K&N Pro Series race go on sale Monday, December 8th just in time for the holidays. Tickets can be purchased online at www.motordrome.com.
