Lawrence F. “Larry Cheetham Jr., 71 of Bristol died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at the Crestwood Nursing Home.

He was born in Fall River a son of the late Lawrence F. & Esther Virginia (Harper) Cheetham Sr.

Larry was an engineer and President of Cheetham Machinery Corporation for over 25 years.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a Sergeant. He also served in the Air National Guard.

He was a lifelong Bristol resident, a member of the Bristol Rotary, and the North East Midget Association (N.E.M.A). He was an avid builder and driver of racecars.

Larry enjoyed spending time boating, camping, and vacationing with his family.

He is survived by his daughters Michelle Major (Joseph) of Warren, and Jill Cheetham (Joseph Francis) of Warren, a sister Valorie Catalano of Dade City Florida, his stepson Jason Sousa of Manchester CT, his stepdaughter LynnMarie Heelan of Somers CT.

He was the grandfather of Ashley Benevides, Joseph Benevides, Briana Francis, Carina Francis, Gabriella Heelan, Reagan Heelan, Joseph Major, and Kaylee Major.

He was the great-grandfather of Ella Lee Benevides.

His funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at 10:00am in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, burial with Military honors will follow in North Burial Ground Bristol.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7pm.
