History for Sale: Fiore Memorabilia Available
You can own a part of local racing history this weekend at Autoparts Swap ‘n Sell in W. Springfield, MA. NEAR Hall of Famer and former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship owner Mario Fiore will be selling memorabilia from his famed No. 44 cars at $100 a door, $100 a rear panel & $50 a quarter panel. Fiore fielded Modifieds from the 1970s to 2001. The Springfield native won track championships at Monadnock, Riverside Park, and Stafford.
“(I am) completely out of the garage business,” Fiore said. “Don’t have room or want them in my downtown Springfield offices. Sorta a change of directions, while moving forward.”
The collection covers from 1990 (Magnum Oil car) to 1999 (Gulf Oil car). Reggie Ruggiero, Rick Fuller, Mike Stefanik, Kerry Malone, Mike Ewanitsko, Jerry Marquis, Ricky Miller, Tommy Cravenho, Jr., Mike Christopher, and John Blewett III drove for Fiore in those years.
Fans have already expressed interest in some pieces, including one from Greg Sacks’ 1990 ride at Shangri-La Speedway.
“That will also hopefully boost the crowd at Ben’s swap meet. Some panels reserved like the entire #46 City Chevrolet driven by Greg Sacks going to a collector.”
The Danny’s Market door, Miller rear panel, among others are being donated to the ProNyne Motorsports Museum in Pawtucket, RI.
Eastern States Exposition is located at 1305 Memorial Avenue. West Springfield, MA 01089. The Better Living Center hosts the event January 17-18 from 8AM to 5PM. Call 860-871-6376 for more information.
