Nationwide Sets Sponsorship Plans for Earnhardt Jr.
Nationwide Insurance announced today on their Facebook and Twitter pages the sponsorship schedule for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. The two-time and defending Daytona 500 winner, Earnhardt finished eighth in points last year with four wins, 12 top fives and 20 top tens. He received his twelfth consecutive NMPA Most Popular Driver Award last December.
Nationwide has been a major NASCAR supporter in recent years. They carried the title sponsorship for NASCAR’s second-tier series from 2008-2014. The Columbus, OH company provided support for Roush Fenway driver Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. in 2013-14.
The No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports team announced last May that Nationwide would be Earnhardt’s new sponsor. Earnhardt debuted the blue and white colors at Richmond last fall. The sponsorship has expanded to 21 of the 36 events this season. National Guard sponsored 24 races last year, but did not return for 2015.
