Thompson Champions to Shine at Mohegan Sun
Facility Moves Banquet to Casino as Part of 75 Year Anniversary Celebration
THOMPSON, CONN. – Officials from Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) announced this morning that the 2015 Championship Awards Banquet will be held at Mohegan Sun on Saturday, December 5, 2015. The change in venue is part of the facility’s 75 year anniversary celebration.
“We are excited to be moving our banquet to Mohegan Sun this season. Their staff was extremely patient and accommodating as we worked through all of the logistics, and we ended up with a terrific venue at a manageable cost for our race teams. I think that this will be a significant enhance to what we offer our teams, and recognize them in a way that is equal to their accomplishments,” TSMP General Manager, Josh Vanada, remarked.
The 2015 Championship Awards Banquet will feature a completely overhauled format. Champions’ cars will be brought into the hall on Saturday morning, and will be on display throughout the awards ceremony. In addition, multimedia will be used to enhance the presentation, including championship videos and a live red-carpet show hosted by Victory Lane Radio. Improved trophies and special guest appearances will all be part of the program as well.
TSMP and Mohegan Sun have also partnered up to offer a truly first-class experience supporting the event. An individual of the Champions’ choosing – spouse, friend, mother or whomever else they may like – will benefit from a visit to Mohegan Sun’s spa, Elemis, compliments of TSMP and Mohegan Sun. Additionally, for those looking to stay at the Casino, a special room rate will be available. That information, along with the required code, will be emailed to teams shortly after the Icebreaker.
Not only will this be an upgrade for race teams, but TSMP has also announced that they will be selling a limited number of tickets to race fans. Tickets will go on sale on TSMP’s website – www.thompsonspeedway.com – on, Monday, April 20, on for race fans.
Vanada went on to say, “We worked at trying to put this together last year, but time ran out on us. It was well worth the wait. The offerings we have now exceed what we had thought was possible last year. The space of the venue will allow us to invite all of our teams, and even some of our fans, which I think will be a great opportunity for them to be with us at an event they normally would not attend. We look forward to capping off our 75th season in such a big way.”
Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park will begin their 75th season of family operation on Friday, April 10, with the 41st running of the Icebreaker.
