Garbo’s Whelen Motorsports Paint Scheme

David Garbo, Jr. of Stonington, CT displayed the new Whelen Motorsports No. 31 through social media today. The Marsh Racing car will debut at New Smyrna (FL) Speedway on February 15 for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season opener, the Hart to Heart Breast Cancer Foundation 150.

Garbo made seven starts last season for Shigeaki Hattori with a best finish of seventh at Bristol. He finished fifth in his X-1R Pro Cup Series at Hickory for Top Gun Motorsports.

Garbo moved to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East after four Late Model wins at the historic Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway and a top ten points finish. He captured the prestigious Bobby Isaac Memorial. The 150-lap race honors the 1970 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion from nearby Catawba.

A standout in Legends Cars, Garbo was the Waterford Speedbowl (Wednesday) and INEX Semi-Pro national champion in 2012. He also won the Young Lions national road course  title.

Whelen Engineering Co. of Chester, CT carries the title sponsorship for three of NASCAR’s regional series and its national weekly series: NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Whelen has sponsored cars in the NASCAR XFINITY and K&N Pro Series East back to the 1990s. Car owner Ted Marsh began as a Modified car owner in 1967. Marsh Racing of Old Lyme, CT has competed in the NASCAR XFINITY, K&N East, and the Tudor United Sports Car Championship.
