49 Cars Enter Tri-Track Open Modified Series
The Tri-Track Open Series has continued its growth in 2015. The entry list hit 49 cars today, with the roster representing drivers who will run every race for the point fund or “at least the check is in the mail,” according to Jim Schaefer.
The second annual open competition series has expanded to four races this year: May 17 at Lee (NH) USA Speedway, June 13 at Monadnock (NH) Speedway and July 1 at Seekonk (MA) Speedway. A fourth nonpoints race at New London-Waterford (CT) Speedbowl will run on September 13.
“It’s been an amazing show of support,” Schaefer said. “(The) big thing is for fans to come and throw down 25/35 for pits. (The races are) paying big money. The only way to not lose our shirts is for fans to come.”
The inaugural season held races at Lee USA (Matt Hirschman), Star (Jon McKennedy) and Seekonk (Tommy Barrett, Jr.). McKennedy claimed the overall championship.
