Babb Racing ACT for Laquerre

Pro Stock Events Also Scheduled

Brad Babb will make a return to the American Canadian Tour (ACT) full-time for Joey Laquerre. Laquerre bought an old ACT car from Glen Luce. The Windham, ME driver is planning to run some Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models and Granite State Pro Stock Series races. He kicked off the season at New Smyrna (FL) Speedway with three races. While he finished tenth in the initial ACT non-points race, he was eighth and fourth in the next two Governor’s Cup races.

Babb loved the high banked half-mile. “Very fun track, I’d go back in a heartbeat,” Babb said. “It’s got some bumps in places. but I found one of the keys to know the track was knowing how to avoid the bumps.”

ACT and PASS will have their first doubleheader on Saturday April 18 at Oxford (ME) Plains Speedway. Tom Curley from ACT and Tom Mayberry from PASS reached an agreement during the offseason. “Everyone has been asking this for a long time and it’s great not only as a competitor, but as a fan. I might do one or two doubleheaders, but even when I only run one race. It’ll be awesome to get a chance to watch another great race after.”

Although Babb would love to run the inaugural PASS race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway July 5, he has another commitment. Car owner Joey Laquerre purchased Speedway 51 (formerly Riverside Speedway) and the Granite State Pro Stocks have a race on July 4.

“I don’t see it happening because practice day is the same day as the Granite State race at Speedway 51. I don’t want to skip the race at my car owner’s track so that is my number one priority for that weekend. “

The  ACT schedule will visit a host 13 races this year. Airborne, Beech Ridge, Devil’s Bowl, Lee USA, Oxford, Speedway 51, Thunder Road and White Mountain will host events. Canadian stops include Autodrome Chaudiere and Circuit Riverside Speedway. The season finale is at Thompson (CT) Speedway Motorsports Park, the first ACT race since Junior Hanley won a Pro Stock tour race in 1992.

The former Beech Ridge champion is looking forward to going to all the tracks on the schedule this season with ACT. “They go to great tracks. I’m looking forward to getting back to Chaudière and Airborne. Had a great run at the Milk Bowl last fall, so I am excited about Thunder Road so I know how quickly that can change. I love White Mountain, Lee, and Thompson. Obviously Beech Ridge being my home track, it’s definitely going to be a fun season. “

Babb would like to run the 150-lap Granite State Pro Stock season finale at New London-Waterford (CT) Speedbowl on October 24. He has run at the Speedbowl before in the Late Models and loves going to the Connecticut shoreline oval. Babb is hoping to go to the Granite State races at Hudson as he won the race there last August.

Babb’s goals are to win an ACT race and have fun. Lee (NH) USA Speedway hosts the ACT season opener on Sunday April 12.
