2015 ATQMRA Kickoff Club Implements Hoosier Tire Bank
The Hoosier Racing Tire American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association kicked off its official 2015 activities with a general Membership Meeting in Bethlehem, Pa on Wednesday night. The well attended meeting was highlighted by the release of the 2015 racing schedule. The Venerable organization will see racing action at five tracks in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. The official announcement was made that the 600 micro sprints will be welcomed to the fold to race with the TQ midgets at ATQMRA sanctioned races. Rule changes that are geared toward saving the racer money have been put in place. Blu Metz is returning to the post of ATQMRA Publicist.
The ATQMRA released an eleven race schedule of races that will begin at Mahoning Valley on April 25th. The organization had an aggressive schedule inked at Borgers Speedway that would have given the organization a home track from which to build but the closure of the facility forced the ATQMRA to move in another direction. The second race on the schedule is a non-point open competition $1,000 to win TQ midget race at New York’s Chapel Hill Raceway in conjunction with the NYPA Midget organization. Two shows at Oswego Speedway, five at Wall Stadium and a single event at Bethel Motorsports Park that is being run in conjunction with the Vintage TQ midget club comprise the organizations 58th season. At this time additional dates are pending.
In an effort to increase car counts the ATQMRA will be incorporating the popular 600 Micro sprints that the TQ midgets race with head to head indoors and in previous seasons at Borgers Speedway. The 600s will be required to follow the US6A engine rules with a maximum width of 60 inches at 800 lbs. and use an ATQMRA style wing. At present Borgers Speedway 2014 TQ/600 Champion Larry Hoagland will be racing with the TQs in the Potent Fred Bittner Hyper Hugger. George and Marilyn VanVarick will have Kurt Bettler in their converted dirt Microsprint for select events.
Teams looking to come out and give ATQMRA style racing a try can take advantage of the club’s temporary membership program. This will allow teams to pay a reduced fee for a night or two of racing before making a commitment to a full membership. The temporary membership still provides the benefits of a full member while defraying the cost.
The organization announced the implementation of a modified tire bank program. Each car will be limited to two new tires per night in 2014. The organization will work toward using the Hoosier Bar code system for tracking tires heading into the 2015 season.
