The 2015 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour kicks off this weekend at Thompson (CT) Speedway Motorsports Park and Our Motorsports return to the Tour with driver Tommy Barrett Jr. for a second season of competition.

Fast Facts for the Icebreaker 150 and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park:

The Race: The 2015 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season will open with the Icebreaker 150, the 127th all-time race at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, and the first of four events this year at the famed northeastern Connecticut oval.

The Track: A .625-mile high-banked oval that opened in 1940, Thompson was the first entirely asphalt track in the nation, and was the largest in New England for five decades. Thompson has played host to 126 Whelen Modified Tour races all-time, more than any other track, and is one of two facilities to welcome the tour in each of its now 31 years of competition.

Barrett says: “We’ve got a new NorthEast race car ready to go for the Icebreaker 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park this weekend, Brad (Lafontaine, crew chief) and the guys have made a lot of changes over the winter and now it is time to show what we have.”

On the stacked field for the Icebreaker: “I’m excited to see the names on the entry list, it’s not too often we have a full-field all capable of taking home the checkers.”
