Série ACT Gears Up for Airborne Triple Crown

Waterbury, VT — The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Airborne Park Speedway have announced a new “Triple Crown” program for the Canada-based Série ACT Late Model Tour. The 2015 Triple Crown will offer point fund of more than $10,000 to Série ACT competitors for events held at the ½-mile oval in Plattsburgh, NY.

ACT will visit Airborne three times in 2015. The Série ACT season and the Triple Crown will kick off with the Spring Green 115 on Saturday night, May 16 as part of a combination event with the ACT U.S. Tour. The International 500 on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 will be the Triple Crown’s second leg, with the ACT championship cars running a 200-lap open event in their half of the program. The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models will also run a 200-lap event that weekend.

The final event of the Triple Crown will be the 41st Fall Foliage 200 on Saturday, October 3. The Série ACT season finale is another combo event with the ACT U.S. Tour. The top Série ACT drivers for the three races will share in the point fund. Drivers must be Série ACT 100%’ers and attend all three Airborne events to be eligible for the fund.

“Jamie Atkins (owner of Airborne Park Speedway) and I were planning the 2015 season, and we both agreed that the ACT races at Airborne had a huge number of avid Quebec fans attending,” said American-Canadian Tour President Tom Curley. “Airborne and Plattsburgh are only 30 minutes from the Canadian border, and over the past 60 years, the ½-mile track has always had great support from our northern teams and fans. It is great to see that tradition continue.”

A full description of the program is available at www.acttour.com in the Forms/Entries section.

A number of Série ACT drivers are expected to compete for the Triple Crown Championship. Defending Série ACT Champion Alex Labbe won the 2013 Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne and was sixth in the ACT International 300 last July. Blainville, Quebec’s Jonathan Bouvrette finished second in a photo finish to winner Ray Parent in a 100-lap ACT U.S. Tour race at Airborne last May.

2013 Série ACT Champion Jean-Francois Dery showed his Airborne abilities with a 5th-place effort in the 2014 ACT International 300, trailing only event winner Patrick Laperle among Canadian drivers. Other top Quebec runners such as two-time Champion Donald Theetge, Patrick Cliche, Martin Goulet Jr., and ACT Pro Stock Tour veteran Claude Leclerc will also contend for the Triple Crown.

Série ACT will begin their 2015 season and the Triple Crown on Saturday, May 16 at Airborne Park Speedway. Post time for the event is 5:00pm. The ACT U.S. Tour will open its season on Saturday, April 18 at 2:00 pm at the Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME. Both the ACT Late Models and the Pro All Stars Series will run twin 150-lap events.
