Timothy Peters Takes Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown

Take a full field of Late Model Stocks and some Cup and Truck drivers then throw in Bill Elliot as Grand Marshall it was a must see event.
After a series of European Style Qualifying and Heat Races the field was set putting Timothy Peters on Peyton Sellers on the front row for 200 Laps.
At the drop of the Green Peters takes off with Sellers in tow. Peters would control the top spot but back in the pack the racing was door to door. Denny Hamlin pits on Lap 63 with electrical issues and is forced to retire from the event. Lee Pulliam goes to the lead on Lap 115. After 2 restarts Peters takes the lead back from Pulliam After a 10 minute break at Lap 150 for adjustments and fresh rubber the cars took back to the track for the final 50 Laps. Matt Bowling last years winner charged to the 2nd spot behind Peters. Peters would fall to fourth on a restart at Lap 190. A late race caution would set up a Green White Checkered finish on Lap 201 but a caution sets up another Green White Checkered finish. Pulliam and Peters roar off in to turn one. The top four are nose to tail at the White Flag. Coming in to Turn Four Josh Berry gets in the rear of Pulliam’s car turning him in to the rear of Berry’s car and piling up the field. Timothy Peters goes on the take the Checkers. William Byron and Mark Wertz squeeze the melee to come home second third followed by Tommy Lemons, Jr. and Tyler Ankrum. Josh Berry was moved to the last car on the lead Lap for rough driving.
Pit Notes: On the card May 9th is Twin 75-lap races for the Late Model Stock Car’s. The Limited Sportsman and Modifieds will race for 50 Laps. The Pure Stock’s will battle for 30 Laps, The Hornets take to the track for 30 Laps.
