Whelen Modifieds Right Back At It With Trip To Stafford

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is in the middle of a busy time in its 2015 schedule with the second of three races to be held in 12 days on tap this Friday night at Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway. Stafford native Woody Pitkat has won two of the last three races there, including April’s Spring Sizzler. Ryan Preece, the 2013 NWMT champion, is coming off of his first win of the season Saturday night at New London-Waterford Speedbowl and will try for his fourth career tour win at Stafford. The Speedbowl triumph also enabled Preece to take over the points lead by one point over defending champion Doug Coby (130-129).

• The NASCAR Euro Series also returns to action this weekend with a doubleheader at Brands Hatch in Fawkham, Longfield, Kent, England. The six-turn, 1.198-mile road course will host rounds five and six on the 2015 schedule during American Speedfest III. Last year, Eddie Cheever III picked up his first series win while former NWES champion Ander Vilariño picked up the other division I victory during the two-day event. While Wilfred Boucenna swept both Division II races. Defending Division I champion Anthony Kumpen enters the weekend coming off of his first victory of 2015 at Raceway Venray on May 24.
