Scott Ends Crosby’s Win Streak at 5 with Speedway 95 Win

Carmel’s Jeremy Scott led the first 2 laps of the Street’s Landscaping Series 30 lap feature for the Coca-Cola Sport-FoursSaturday night at Speedway until he was passed by Donny Silva of Hudson on lap 3. Scott remained in second place to the checkers, fighting off Jason Trundy of Winterport and Andrew Crosby of Hermon as the three raced nose to tail all race long. Trundy ran behind Crosby until lap 25, when he snuck by on the inside after pinning Crosby behind a lapped car. Trundy then challenged Scott to the flag, but was unable to make the pass. In post-race inspection, Silva, who crossed the finish line first, was disqualified for being 120 pounds under the weight minimum. Scott was declared the winner, with Trundy taking second and Crosby third. Chris Carroll of Alton placed fourth, with Clinton’s Tim Robinson in fifth.

In the Dysart’s Late Models, Dean Smart became the division’s second two time winner this season as he won the hotly contested 40 lap main event. Smart led from lap 2, most of the time by mere inches, as the top four ran side by side and nose to tail for the entire 40 laps. Brenton Parritt of Steuben ran the inside groove beside Smart for most of the race, but on lap 35, John Curtis Jr. of Hermon tried to make it three wide on the front stretch, and made contact with Parritt, sending both cars spinning off the track and having to make quick repairs in the pits. Both returned to the track before the restart and remained on the lead lap. Wayne Parritt  of Steuben then took the lead from Smart on the restart and led laps 37 and 38. The yellow came out again on lap 39, when Don Alexander Jr. of Levant and Brenton Parritt spun coming out of turn 4. On the last restart, a green-white-checker dash to the finish, Smart was able to fend off Wayne Parritt and cross the finish line first. Wayne Parritt finished second, followed by Brenton Parritt in third. Fourth went to Curtis Jr. and Alexander recovered to finish fifth.

Shane Tatro of Levant held off Skowhegan’s Kris Matchett for the entire 30 laps of the division‘s first series race of the season to post his second win of the season in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman. Matchett stayed on Tatro’s bumper for 24 laps until he slipped coming out of turn 4 with 6 to go, and had to lift off the gas to regain control of his car. Matchett then made up the distance between himself and Tatro, and was again on Tatro’s bumper when the checkered flag fell, but had to settle for a runner up finish. Third went to Winterport’s Trey Brown, with Ralph Melanson of Corinth and Mike Overlock of Franklin rounding out the top five.

Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort won his third feature of the season in the Strictly Streets after passing early leader Asa Jones of Sullivan on lap 4 of the 25 lap feature. 2014 division champion Alex Berry of Harrington came from his 8th place starting position to finish second in his first race of the season. Third place went to Burnham’s Chris King as he slipped by Jones coming out of turn 4 on the final lap, leaving Jones with a fourth place finish. Fifth place went to Keith Ogden of Holden.
