PRACTICE: Solomito Quick at Thompson
Fastest In Prep For Tonight’s Mr. Rooter 125
THOMPSON, Conn. – Timmy Solomito saved his best for last as he went to the top of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour speed chart inside the final minute of Mr. Rooter 125 practice Wednesday evening at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
Solomito, from Islip, New York, turned a fast lap of 18.780 seconds (119.808 mph) in his No. 16 Diversified Metals/R.B. Enterprises Ford to take the top spot.
It’s a nice start for Solomito in following his performance last week at Stafford Motor Speedway where he finished third to match his career-best result.
Woody Pitkat finished second on the practice chart at 18.882 (119.161) followed by Donny Lia at 18.925 (118.890).
Todd Szegedy, Derek Ramstrom, Doug Coby, Keith Rocco, Bobby Santos, Ron Silk and points leader Ryan Preece brought home the top 10.
Coors Light Pole Award qualifying is slated for 7 p.m. and the Mr. Rooter 161 will go green at approximately 8:45 p.m.
