Hight Chevrolet 150 at Speedway 95 is Third PASS North SLM Victory this Season for Hall of Famer Mike Rowe
Hermon, Maine — Mike Rowe of Turner padded his lead in the AIM Recycling PASS North Super Late Model championship chase, posting an impressive victory in the Hight Chevrolet 150 at Speedway 95 in Hermon, Maine on Sunday afternoon. It was the third victory of the season for the Petit Motorsports team, winless on the PASS circuit for nine years before Rowe climbed into their equipment.
Reigning champion DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire and Turner’s Glen Luce swapped the lead in the event’s early stages while eventual winner Rowe, who started 11th, worked his way into the top five by the 34th lap. Working traffic like the Hall of Famer that he is, Rowe blasted into the race lead less than five laps later.
Both Shaw and Farmington’s Cassius Clark, driving the Hight 77, mounted brief challenges to Rowe on late restarts, but the 64-year-old master prevailed for the third time in six starts on the PASS North Super Late Model circuit.
Cassius Clark, who made things quite interesting in the closing laps, settled for a runner-up finish, while Shaw seemed disappointed with his third-place run after running in front of the pack earlier in the 150-lapper.
Travis Benjamin of Morrill swapped positions with the frontrunners throughout the event and claimed a fourth-place finish. Jeremy Davis of Tamworth, New Hampshire once again came alive in the late stages of the race to claim his second straight top five-finish.
Early-race pacesetter Luce managed to cross the line in sixth position, with six-time PASS North champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale rebounding to finish seventh following a late-race pit stop. Joey Doiron of Berwick, Gary Smith of Bangor and Standish competitor Dave Oliver rounded out the top ten.
Doug McClure of Buxton led all the way en route to victory in the 30-lap feature race for PASS Mods.
McClure’s biggest test came from points leader Ryan Robbins of Dixfield, who claimed runner-up honors ahead of Newburgh’s Scott Alexander. Reigning series champion Andy Shaw of Center Conway, NH and Westbrook’s Matty Sanborn rounded out the top five.
