Chris King Wins 50 Lap Street Stock Feature at 95
Chris King of Burnham finally got the win he’s been looking for as he won the 50 lap Casella Waste Systems series race #2 at Speedway 95 Saturday night. King started fifth in the 12 car field, took the lead from Skowhegan’s Zach Audet on lap 19, and held off Frankfort’s Bob Seger Jr. for the win. Seger, who started the race in the fifth spot, spent the majority of the race trying to get past fourth place finisher Audet and third place finisher Alex Berry of Harrington to get in position to go for the win. Once past them, Seger was unable to close the gap to mount a serious challenge to King. Ellsworth’s Bradley Norris finished fifth in the caution free feature. King also won the 10 lap qualifier held earlier in the program.
In his second time out in a brand new race car, Steuben’s Wayne Parritt Sr. led all 40 laps of the Dysart’s Late Model feature, finishing ahead of his brother, 2014 division champion Brenton Parritt, also of Steuben. Third place went to Ryan Deane of Winterport, who was making his first appearance of the season at the speedway. Wayne Parritt Jr., also of Steuben, finished fourth in his first outing of the season. Fifth went to Deane Smart of Bradley, who is one of only 2 drivers in the division to have more than one win on the season.
Jason Trundy of Winterport became the third winner of the season in the Coca-Cola Sport-Four division as he led the 25 lap feature from the green to the checkers. Five time winner Andrew Crosby of Hermon was unable to close the gap Trundy enjoyed as it took him quite a while to work his way up to the second spot. Third went to Jeremy Scott of Carmel with Dustan Durrell of Newburgh and Brock Worster of Kingman rounding out the top five.
Shane Tatro of Levant chased Skowhegan’s Kris Matchett for the first 12 laps of the 25 lap Darling’s Ford Sportsman feature, took the lead on lap 13, lost it to Matchett from lap 15 to lap 20, then regained it on lap 21 as the two cars touched briefly in turn 3 after racing side by side for most of the race. Tatro then gained a little distance on Matchett, but Matchett closed it back up, but not enough to retake the lead. Tatro won by a car length, with Matchett finishing second. Third went to rookie Trey Brown of Winterport, with Ralph Melanson of Corinth and Mike Overlock of Franklin rounding out the top five.
The NELCAR Legends cars made their second appearance of the season with Kevin Gerard Jr. of Old Orchard Beach taking the win after leading all 25 laps of the feature. Newport’s Matt Burgoine started near the rear of the field and worked his way through the pack to finish second. Third went to Matt Grant of Windham.
