Branden Dion to Make Stafford Speedway Modified Racing Series Debut

Stafford Springs, CT — Armed with a new Troyer car, Taunton, MA native Branden Dion is ready to make his first start in a Valenti Modified Racing Series car at Stafford Motor Speedway this Friday night. Dion has run the prior two races on the 2015 VMRS schedule at Seekonk and Lee and the former SK Light and current SK Modified® driver is looking forward to continuing his learning curve in the VMRS series at a track that he has a level of familiarity with behind the wheel of the #04 Triple D Racing / Doug King Builders machine.

“We’ve ran twice so far at Seekonk and Lee,” said Dion. “We’re still learning and we have a wide variety of things to learn with the car. We finished 19th at Lee and we were right around there at Seekonk. I have some seat time and experience at Stafford and I would say my goal for the race is to continue learning, get a good finish, and keep the car in one piece.”

Dion was an SK Light Modified rookie driver last season and he drove to a 3rd place finish in the points standings while collecting his very first feature win. This season saw Dion move up to the SK Modified® ranks, where his best finish in 4 starts has been 14th. After his SK car was damaged in an accident, Dion’s family went out and bought a Troyer car to campaign in the Modified Racing Series.
“I’m looking forward to the race,” said Dion. “Our SK car got bent up in a wreck and we’ve kind of shifted gears towards the MRS car for now. We picked this car up a couple of days after we sent our SK car out to our chassis guy and it’s a Troyer house car that Jimmy Zacharias drove a couple of times. The car was down in Florida, but the guy we bought it from had only raced it a couple of times. I’m really looking forward to the race to keep on gaining experience and with my experience at Stafford I think I’ll feel pretty comfortable racing with these guys.”

The June 26 VMRS 80 will be the second of three Valenti Modified Racing Series events to be held at Stafford during 2015, with the third and final VMRS race to be held on September 4th. Tickets for both races are on sale now and are priced at $27.50 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. All ticket prices include 10% CT Admission Tax. Stafford Motor Speedway offers plenty of free parking along with overnight parking for self contained Recreational Vehicles.
