Town, Rollins Confident Heading to “Mad Dog”
WINCHESTER, NH – As the North East Street Stock Tour travels to Monadnock Speedway (NH), on July 11, two drivers who consider the Winchester, NH facility their “home turf” are looking to pick up their first win in the series.
Charlestown, NH’s Bryan Town had a fast car at the tour’s most recent event, at Speedway 51 (NH), but an on-track racing incident forced the former Claremont Speedway champion to retire from the event early. With Monadnock next on the schedule, one of Town’s home tracks, his confidence level is high.
Town went on to say about Monadnock Speedway “I have an advantage over most guys [at Monadnock]. Besides [Geoff] Rollins, I’ve ran there before, and most have never even seen the track. The track is a little tricky, with completely different turns on each side.”
“I feel we really had the car to beat at Speedway 51, until we got caught up in a racing incident,” added Town. That track is really similar to Monadnock [Speedway].”
Geoff Rollins is another driver who has a high level of confidence entering the event. The Groton, MA driver has turned laps in many different style cars at Monadnock Speedway, and is a strong competitor at the ¼ facility.
Rollins assured he’d be a top contender at Monadnock Speedway, saying “I think I have the best chance of winning this race. It’s a driver’s track, where a driver with experience there can win with a bad car.”
Both competitors commented on the turns at the track, noting the uniqueness of the layout. The drivers mentioned turns one and two are different than three and four, which gives an advantage to racers who have experience turning laps at the speedway.
Along with the North East Street Stock Tour (NESST) regulars, there has been a strong interest from local drivers in attending the event, including David Greenslit. Greenslit was the runner-up in the Thunder Stock division last year, a division similar to the NESST, even with missing an event. Greenslit is also a former champion at Claremont Speedway, as well as a former racer at Thunder Road Speedbowl (VT).
The North East Street Stock Tour will visit Monadnock Speedway, on July 11, for the third event in the inaugural season. Post time for this event is 5PM, with the Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Lightning Stocks, Young Guns, and NE Classic Lites also on the card.
