Sprint Cars Headline Big Friday Card at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 21, 2015) – A big night of action is on tap at Dodge City Raceway Park with this Friday’s Driver Appreciation & First Responder Night at the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.

The United Rebel Sprint Series will mix it up with the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars along with a full slate of championship chase action including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

While First Responders are admitted free, a big crowd should be on hand with drivers distributing tickets to the track’s first Driver Appreciation Night.

Eligible drivers with all of their tickets returned will be entered in the drawing for a Hinchman Racing Suit with all variety of prizes supplied by Simpson, Schoenfeld, Precise Racing Products, Napa Auto Parts and more drawn for as well during the evening.

While the track honors its frequent competitors as well as First Responders, the action on track should be intense as well with Luke Cranston, Austin Allen, Jeff Kaup, Michael Pepper and Cody Davis leading their respective divisions into the night.

Ness City’s Cranston leads the Precise DCRP Sprint Cars into the event as they take on the URSS Sprint Cars for the third time this season.

C.J. Johnson topped the first URSS stop of the season at DCRP on June 6 with Cranston padding his DCRP Sprint Car points lead with a triumph in the URSS portion of the June 27 Steve King Memorial.

While Cranston is 48 points ahead of Zach Blurton with Brian Herbert another 39 points back in DCRP Sprint Car points, Blurton holds an eight-point edge over Cranston in URSS Kansas Region points with Jed Werner another 18 points back in third.  Jake Bubak currently holds a four-point edge over Cranston in URSS National points.

Coming off a top-five finish in last weekend’s Modified Stampede, Goddard’s Austin Allen holds a 51-point lead over Clay Sellard in his quest for a third consecutive IMCA Modified track championship while Jeff Kaup’s advantage over Mike Appel is just 32 points as he tries for a third straight title as well in the IMCA Sport Modified ranks.

Despite having his stranglehold on IMCA Stock Car victory lane broken this past weekend, Lakin’s Michael Pepper still holds an 83-point lead over Ron Hartman in the title chase while Bucklin’s Cody Davis is 81 points ahead of Reagan Sellard in the IMCA Hobby Stock championship chase.

General admission for Friday’s Driver Appreciation & First Responder Night is just $15 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

The 2015 slate of events at Dodge City Raceway Park includes 15 nights of competition with a number of special events along the way.  The track’s full slate of events is available at http://www.dodgecityraceway.com/schedule/.
