Zach Audet Scores Modified Enduro Win at Speedway 95

Zach Audet of Skowhegan parked his RoadRunner car for the night and brought his Modified Enduro car to the speedway and fought off a hard charge from Hermon’s Andrew Crosby to pick up his first win of the season in the division. Audet started 7th in the field and took over the top spot on lap 3, but had to work all race long to keep Crosby behind him. Crosby finished a close second with Dustin Lancaster of Milo finishing third, about 5 car lengths behind the leaders. Pole sitter Alex Runci of Frankfort finished fourth with Scott Bonney of Stetson rounding out the top five.

More than 40 cars started the 20 lap RoadRunner feature, and once again Jason Trundy came from deep in the field to pull off his third win in a row. Trundy came from the 36th starting position and grabbed the lead from Steve Moulton in turn three of the last lap. Moulton had led from the start and battled with Travis Beale of Hampden for most of the 20 lap distance. It was lapped traffic that was Moulton’s undoing, as Trundy and Beale both slipped by Moulton in the final two turns, relegating Moulton to a third place finish. Fourth went to Rick Gomm of Dixmont with Nathan Hatch of Veazie finishing fifth.

Marcus Dunn of Newburgh took the Stars of Tomorrow feature by half a lap over his closest competitor. Last week’s winner, Scott Hunt of Glenburn fought off Jordan Kimball of Holden and Nicholas Cota of Greenfield to finish third, with Kimball and Cota finishing third and fourth respectively. Alexis Roach of Brewer recovered from last week’s rollover to place fifth, after starting on the pole.

The night’s Stunt Race was a bag race, in which the driver puts a bag over his or her head and a passenger directs the driver around the track. Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort and Scott Steele of Winterport teamed up for the win. Second went to the team of Zach Audet of Skowhegan and Jason Trundy of Winterport, with Henry Boudreau and Anthony Miles, both of Winterport finishing in third.

Saturday Show at Speedway 95 to Feature Fireworks

On Saturday, July 25, Speedway 95 will present a show of three extended length features and a fireworks display, sponsored by the Varney Agency of Bangor. The Darling’s Ford Sportsman, the Casella Waste Systems Strictly Streets and the Coca-Cola Sport Fours will each run a 50 lap feature event, two of which were held over from last week’s weather related cancellation. The Dysart’s Late Models will run a regular 40 lap feature event. At dusk, the lights will go out and Atlas Pyrotechnics of Scarborough will light off a magnificent display of fireworks. The show starts at 7:00 with qualifying races in each division to set the fields for the extended lap features. Shane Tatro of Levant leads the Darling’s Ford series points after two of the four scheduled events. Asa Jones of Sullivan leads in the Strictly Street Pine Tree Waste series and Andrew Crosby of Hermon tops the Street’s Landscaping series for the Sport-Fours. Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington leads the Dysart’s Late Models in the Hopkin’s Landscaping Series points, with  the third race of that four race series scheduled for Saturday, August 8th.
