PRACTICE: Lia Fast At Monadnock
Veteran Sets Pace In Afternoon Practice
MONADNOCK, N.H. – Donny Lia proved that veterans can get it done against the young guns during practice for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 at Monadnock Speedway.
Lia piloted his No. 8 Sypher Construction/Bardahl Chevrolet around the banked quarter-mile track at 12.384 seconds (72.674 mph) to lead the 28-car field in the one-hour practice session.
Ryan Preece, who won this race in 2012 and holds the current track qualifying record, followed in second at 12.421 seconds (72.458 mph) and Keith Rocco was third (12.430/72.405) as the only other driver to top the 72-mph mark.
Doug Coby (12.523/71.868) and Patrick Emerling (12.545/71.742) completed the top five.
Last week’s race winner Todd Szegedy was sixth with Max Zachem, Timmy Solomito, Bobby Santos and Rowan Pennink rounding out the top 10.
Qualifying is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 set to start at approximately 8:30 p.m.
