Qualifying: McReynolds Captures Pole
Spring Iowa Winner Starts Up Front; Abreu Fastest In East
NEWTON, Iowa – Brandon McReynolds’ string of success at Iowa Speedway is still going strong.
The 23-year-old from Mooresville, N.C., earned his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West win at Iowa on May 17th. He added another accolade Friday night when he captured the Coors Light Pole Award for the #ThanksKenny 150.
The third out of 38 cars in qualifying, McReynolds set a time of 23.971 seconds (131.475 mph) to pace the field.
Rico Abreu was the fastest K&N Pro Series East qualifier with a fast lap of 24.002 (131.239 mph) to earn the third overall starting position.
Abreu’s fellow NASCAR Next classmate James Bickford qualified second at 23.971 seconds (131.239 seconds).
K&N East newcomer Spencer Davis was fourth fastest at 24.005 seconds (131.113 mph) and JJ Haley was fifth at 24.009 seconds (130.983 mph).
Nick Drake, Jesse Little, Austin Hill, David Mayhew and Ronnie Bassett Jr. rounded out the top 10.
The green flag for the #ThanksKenny 150 is at 8 p.m.
