Steve Kimball Takes Roadrunner Win at Speedway 95
After losing a hard fought battle for the win in his Sportsman car Saturday night, Steve Kimball of Holden was on the winning end of a hard fought battle in the RoadRunner feature at Speedway 95 Wednesday night. Kimball started 7th in the 38 car field, ran in the top five all race long and finally got by Skowhegan’s Kris Matchett on lap 18 of the 20 lap feature. Matchett had run in the lead for most of the race, but on lap 18, Kimball ran him wide coming out of turn 4 to take the lead, with Anthony Miles of Winterport sneaking by Matchett to place second. Matchett recovered to finish third, with Travis Beale of Hampden and Dustan Durrell of Newburgh rounding out the top five. Durban Davis of Etna, Travis Beale of Hampden and Keith Drost of Stetson won the qualifying heat races earlier in the evening.
Zach Audet of Skowhegan won his fifth Modified Enduro race of the season, after taking the lead from Milo’s Dustin Lancaster on lap 7 of the 20 lap event. Dennis Burns of Carmel finished in second with Hampden’s Danielle Beale coming in third. Fourth went to Lancaster with Rhonda Crain of Hermon finishing fifth.
Following a lap 2 caution and restart, Marcus Dunn of Newburgh ran on the bumper of Glenburn’s Scott Hunt JR. for 16 laps of the Stars of Tomorrow feature and finally made the pass for the win on lap 18, leading the final two laps to the checkers. Hunt finished second, followed by Greenfield’s Nicholas Cota. Fourth went to Jordan Kimball with Orono’s Cody Farnsworth finishing fifth.
In the RoadRunner stunt event, a take off on the “Red light-Green light” kid’s game, Durban Davis of Levant stopped and went the fastest, winning the 2 lap feature, after winning one of the two qualifying heats. Mickey Godin of Hermon finished second with Winterport’s Trey Brown in third.
