Speedway 95 News Release 08-22-15

(Hermon, Me) The rain in the forecast held off for another evening of racing at Speedway 95 in Hermon Saturday Night August 22nd.

After a runner-up finish in the qualifier, Bobby Seger, Jr. of Winterport found the right set-up for the feature, driving what he called in victory lane, the fastest car he has ever driven. Despite a back and forth side-by-side race with Jordan Pearson of Hermon for the first few laps of the series race in the third and final Cassella Waste Street division Pine Tree Waste series race, Seger used lapped traffic to grab the top spot and bury the field to the checkered flag. The commanding win for Seger secured for him the series championship. Pearson finished second with Asa Jones of Sullivan finishing third.

The Darlings Ford Sportsmen series went caution free for both the heat and the feature with Holden’s Steve Kimball taking the top spot. Shane Tatro of Levant finished in the second position with rookie Trey Brown of Winteport crossing the line for third. Both the heat and the feature went caution free.

In the Dysart’s Late Model Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington was dialed in for the win, holding off Winterport’s Ryan Deane who was also concerned with holding second from the hard charge of John Curtis, Jr. of Hermon. At the checkers, it was McLaughlin with the win, Deane in second, and Curtis in third. Curtis felt that even a caution might not have helped him get any close to the front in the closing laps, as the vehicle seemed to lose it’s speedy set-up near the end of the race.

The pole sitter for the Coca Cola Company Sport Four division, Lewis Batchelder of Dixmont, dominated the field after locking in the top-spot at lap 4, and holding it all the way to the checkered flag. Dustin Durrell of Newburgh took his car to victory lane with a second place finish and Brock Worster of Kingman finished third. Worster fought, for many laps, for the third spot with Andrew Crosby of Hermon, until a mechanical issue forced Crosby to return to the pits and out of the race.
