Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Wraps Up Summer Racing Series with Pepsi Back to School Bash
This Wednesday, August 26th, marks the final race in the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) summer series and the last NASCAR event before the final championship weekend in October. On the schedule for the Pepsi Back to School Bash will be TSMP’s top open-wheel division, the Sunoco Modifieds, who will be racing in two separate 25 lap features.
Competing in the Sunoco Modified Double Features, will be two of the top-5 contenders for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) National Championship – Keith Rocco & Ryan Preece. Keith Rocco held the lead in the standings up until recently, however a broken wrist in the Sunoco Modified race at TSMP on July 8th, has caused him to drop down to second place. Ryan Preece currently sits in third in the national standings, boosted by a win at TSMP at the last race, the Budweiser ‘King of Beers’ 150. Woody Pitkat currently sits in the lead in the TSMP championship standings.
Also competing on Wednesday night will be TSMP’s other three NWAAS divisions, the Late Models, Xtramart Limited Sportsman and the Monster Mini Stocks. The Monster Mini Stocks will complete their third and final race in the Triple Crown Championship mini-series. Eric Bourgeois currently leads the Triple Crown standings, with Nicholas Matera and Dave Trudeau rounding out the top three.
The Vintage Outlaw Modifieds will also return to the 5/8 mi. oval for their fifth race of the season at TSMP.
The gates for the Pepsi Back to School Bash: Sunoco Modified Double Features will open at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, August 26th, Qualifying starts at 5:15PM and Feature Races will begin at 6:00 PM.
