Columbus Homecoming

This weekend’s race is a homecoming for Coughlin as the Columbus Motor Speedway is just a few miles away from his hometown of Delaware, Ohio.  As a result he gets to race in front of lots of friends and family, including his father, John, his mother, Di, and his sister, Kennedi, as well as what should be a huge contingent of fans all decked out in JEGS yellow.

A Familiar Face at the Drop of the Green

While Cody gets much of the spotlight for his on-track prowess, his sister, Kennedi, will take some of it away at the drop of the green Sunday at Columbus Motor Speedway.  In fact, Kennedi herself will be dropping the green flag as the honorary starter.  She is hoping her brother is the first car in the line when she does that and later on after 125-laps when the flagman throws the checkers as well.

Let the Good Times Roll

Cody Coughlin has one thought for this weekend’s Bud St. Amant Memorial 125  – a victory.  Coughlin has scored three-straight top-five finishes in ARCA/CRA Super Series competition dating back to Berlin Raceway (MI) in May when he charged to fifth from the 21st starting position.  Coughlin has now finished third in his last two Super Late Model races.  He powered through the field at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) to finish third in July.  He finished third this past weekend at Winchester Speedway (IN) after starting seventh.

Ohio State Success

It’s no secret that Cody Coughlin is a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.  He’s lived most of his life in the shadows of the Ohio State University in Columbus and has gone to many games at Ohio Stadium, including a couple games in their run to the NCAA National Championship last season.  The Ohio State University is already off to a great start in their title defense after putting a hurting on Virginia Tech this past Monday night.  If Coughlin can replicate that sort of success on Sunday at Columbus, the rest of the field is in trouble.
