2016 SSS Season to Open with Rattler 250
(Pensacola, FL) — Even as autumn approaches with some of the season’s biggest races on tap, racers, fans and series are looking ahead to 2016. Today the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco is proud to announce that the 40th Ratter 250 weekend, March 18-20, 2016, at South Alabama Speedway, will open the season next year.
“We are excited to be working with John Dykes at South Alabama Speedway to be able to start the Southern Super Series at one of the nation’s premier Super Late Model events,” said Southern Super Series Director, Tim Bryant. “We had such an exciting race last year to kickoff our season and I know this year is going to be just as exhilarating.”
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series winning driver Christopher Bell won this past year’s Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway for Kyle Busch Motorsports. The 2016 edition of the race will be the third-straight year the Rattler 250 will open the season for the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco.
“We wanted to make this announcement now so that racers and fans can begin their planning for next year. A lot of people come from all over the country to see the Rattler 250,” added Bryant. “The trend these days is to announce as early as possible and we always want to be respectful of other series and their dates.”
Southern Super Series officials are finalizing agreements with existing Southern Super Series tracks that have been a part of the tour since its inception in 2013, as well as with new tracks that may potentially be added to the series’ 2016 slate.
“We are looking forward to 2016 and to be starting with The Rattler gives us a lot of prestige and a sense of tradition,” said Bryant. “The 4/10’s of a mile track provides a lot of racing excitement. We have some racing to go this year, but we are happy to have a jumpstart on 2016 as well.”
The Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco will complete its 2015 slate and award a championship at its season finale on Saturday, September 26th at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. The event is scheduled for 100-laps. If you cannot make it to the event, PFC Brakes is presenting the race TV broadcast live on Speed51.com, free-of-charge.
