QUALIFYING: Measmer Celebrates First Pole

Young Driver Scores Historic Starting Spot At South Boston

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – The eventful week for Bobby Measmer Jr. continued Saturday at South Boston Speedway and this time it’s some good news for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour competitor.

His mother had cancer surgery on Wednesday and his team is featuring the name “Elijah” on his car to honor another cancer patient.

Measmer was able to take his No. 74 Elijah’s Entourage Chevrolet to the front and win his first Coors Light Pole Award in qualifying for the South Boston 150.

Measmer finished with a fast lap of 17.787 seconds (97.383 mph) to edge Andy Seuss by just .002 of a second in winning the award.

Seuss piloted his No. 11 Northeast Race Cars/Ideal Finance Chevrolet to a fast lap of 14.789 seconds (97.370 mph) to start alongside Measmer.

George Brunnhoelzl III followed in third (14.794/97.337) with James Civali and Frank Fleming completed the top five.

Jeremy Gerstner was sixth with Kyle Ebersole, Jason Myers, Danny Bohn and Burt Myers round out the top 10.

The green flag for the South Boston 150 is slated to start at approximately 8 p.m.
