Riley Herbst to Join LFR Driver Development Group for Select 2015 Races

16-Year-Old Las Vegas Native to Make Super Late Model Debut

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 24, 2015) – The LFR Driver Development Group is excited to announce the addition of another driver to its stable, as Riley Herbst joins the group for select races in 2015. The 16-year-old Las Vegas, Nev. native, who grew up racing Late Models and Speed Trucks, now looks to take the next step with Super Late Models.

“I’m looking forward to adding Riley to our group of young talent,” said Rob Fuller, President of LFR Chassis. “He’s had success at every level of racing he has ran so far, and we plan on the same results with the LFR team. It’s a great feeling to get to work with these young drivers and help them jump-start their racing careers. The Super Late Model series is the series everyone is watching for up and coming talent, and I believe we will have another one of those on our hands with Riley.”

Herbst comes from a racing family, as his dad and grandfather were both off-road racers. Herbst himself began his racing career at 7 years old, starting out with Go Karts and Trophy Karts before moving up to Legend Cars.

“I grew up watching my dad compete in races like the Baja 500, so I’ve always wanted to be a racer myself,” said Herbst. “I’ve been doing some Late Model and Speed Truck racing at Irwindale Speedway, but I’m excited to be working with the LFR Driver Development Group and trying out Super Late Models for the first time!”

Herbst currently leads both the Irwindale Truck Series standings and the Rookie-of-the-Year standings. He has visited Victory Lane multiple times at the Southern California short track. Herbst has also been competing in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series this year and is in contention for Rookie-of-the-Year honors in that series as well.

“It’s been a great year for me so far, but I’m ready for more!” he explained. “I’m looking forward to working with the guys at LFR and putting together a lot of solid runs and respectable finishes. I think I’ll learn a lot from them and have a lot of fun!”

Herbst is set to make his debut start for the group this weekend during the PASS Tour’s race at the Southern National Motorsports Park, weather permitting. Jeff Fultz, LFR’s Late Model Division Director, is looking forward to his chance to work with Herbst for the first time.

“I’ve heard about Riley before and watched him for a while now,” said Fultz. “I’m excited to have him on the team. He’s got a lot of talent even with it being so early in his career. I think with a little bit of coaching he’ll go on to do great things.”

“This weekend we are visiting a track LFR knows how to run well at, so we should have a great car ready for him,” continued Fultz. “Once Riley gets up to speed and comfortable in a Super Late Model, we should have a pretty good run going there.”
