Westboro Speedway Reunion Sunday
The quinquennial Westboro (MA) Speedway reunion is Sunday, October 4 from 12 PM to 5 PM at Glick Nissan ( 273 Turnpike Rd, Westborough, MA 01581).
The high banked quarter mile oval opened in 1947 and closed in 1985. NEAR Hall of Famers associated with the Rt. 9 oval include longtime promoter and car owner John Falconi, Sr. Dave Humphrey was a big NEMA winner there. Recent classes include Deke Astle, Sr., the track’s winningest driver Fred Borden, former champion Fred Schulz, and the final NEMA Midget winner Drew Fornoro.
The track hosted concerts by Gregg Allman, the Guess Who. Aerosmith‘s concert on August 18, 1974 opened with Mad Angel. It was one of the largest crowds early in their career.
