Tri Track Series Set To Conclude 2015 At Waterford
WATERFORD, Conn. — The Northeast Race Cars and Parts Tri Track Open Modified Series will conclude their 2015 season as part of the inaugural Bemer’s Super Bowl at New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 25.
The event will be a non-points affair for the ground-pounding tour-type Modifieds.
The series saw four intense points races in 2015 at Lee USA Speedway, Monadnock Speedway, Seekonk Speedway and New London-Waterford, with four different feature winners. The 2015 series champion was “Money” Matt Hirschman, who won at Monadnock and locked up the championship crown with a third place finish at the Speedbowl in September.
The series will run the fifth event of the year under a different format than the first four. There will be two 35 lap qualifying races to start Sunday afternoon that will qualify a total of 22 cars into the 65-lap main event. There will be no heat races or consolation events.
The series will use a blind draw to line up the twin 35 lap feature’s, splitting the car count exactly in half. For example, if 40 cars show up at the Speedbowl on that Sunday, 20 will be in the first feature and 20 will be in the second feature.
At the conclusion of each qualifying feature, the top 11 in each will transfer on into the main event. The 65 lap feature will include the 22 transfer drivers, plus up to four series option provisionals.
Coming into the weekend, more than 40 drivers have penciled the event into their calendar and filed an entry with the series. All four winners this season have filed an entry — those being Hirschman, Chris Pasteryak, Richard Savary and Ron Silk. Point standings runner-up Todd Annarummo has filed to race, as has NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points runner-up Ryan Preece.
Jamie Tomaino, Chase Dowling and Max Zachem are among drivers that will be entering the event that have not run with the series during the 2015 racing season to date.
