Tri Track Headed to Star Speedway in 2016

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — The Tri Track Open Modified Series (TTOMS) announced the return of Star Speedway in Epping, N.H. to their schedule in 2016 with one event set for July 30.

Star joins Seekonk Speedway (June 29) as currently-confirmed event dates for 2016, though more dates will be coming in the near future. The race will be the fifth running of the SBM 125 and the second under the Tri Track banner.

The event will pay a minimum of $10,000 to the feature winner.

“I am so excited to see the Modifieds return to Star for the SBM V,” Star Speedway track promoter Bob Webber Jr. said. “Every competing Modified driver that I have seen since that last race has been asking. Fans ave been asking and I have been working with the Open Show concept SBM back to where it all started.”

In 2011, 16 teams showed up for the first ever SBM event — though it has continued to grow each season. In 2012, 28 teams hit Star, while in 2013, 32 cars were on the property for action.

The defending winner of the event is John McKennedy. In 2014, McKennedy waited until the second half of the race to put on a charge from outside the top-five to score the victory.

Longtime New England race writer Kevin Rice assisted the Tri Track Open Modified Series and Star Speedway in making this event happen in 2016.

The series asks fans and teams to keep an eye to the website and Facebook page in the coming days for more information on the 2016 season, and for more information on the Tri Track Open Modified Series, visit www.tritrackopenmodifiedseries.com.
