Tom Fearn and Joey Ferrigno to Represent Stafford Motor Speedway at This Weekend’s PPB Motorsports Show in Philadelphia

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway will be well represented at the PPB Motorsports Racecar and Trade Show this weekend at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center with Tom Fearn and Joey Ferrigno in attendance.

Fearn was invited to the show to receive an award from Area Auto Racing News for having the most asphalt Late Model feature wins in a season in the Northeast and he will also be on hand to sign autographs. Fearn drove his #92 King Ward/SAFCO Foam/Sarat Ford Fusion to 10 wins at Stafford last season, including a stretch of four wins in a row. While his 10 wins for Fearn set a track Late Model record for wins in a season, his winning streak of four races came up one short of Woody Pitkat, who won 5 consecutive feature events during the 2007 season.

“We had a terrible start to the season, which took us out of the points chase,” said Fearn. “Once that happened, I told the guys that we needed to try to win every week and we ended up almost winning every week. There’s nothing like winning, it’s good for team morale and our sponsors, although I think I’d trade those 10 wins for the championship. Most of our work is done in the shop during the week and I’m just the lucky guy who gets to sit behind the wheel of the car. Over the winter we’re trying to make the car even better because when you’re on top, everyone is shooting for you and we know everyone else is working to make their cars better for 2016. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off in 2015 and win the championship. I think we’re one of the favorites for the championship, but we have to go out on the track and get the job done. We’re also working on getting our backup car better and we might even have a K&N East driver in our backup car on the night of the K&N East race at Stafford. We want to give someone a car that has a chance of winning the race so we’ll be working on that as well.”

Ferrigno will be in the Racing With Jesus Ministries booth with his pink #87 racecar to help raise some money for his crew member Marla Klemovitch, who was stricken with cancer during the 2015 season. Ferrigno started his fundraising campaign during the 2015 season by selling tee shirts and hoodies as well as donating his race winnings. With the help of his sponsors D’Addario’s Auto Service, Steve’s Auto Care & Repair, Gallagher Buick-GMC, and Stevens Duct Installation as well as support from R.A.D Automachine and Brothers Pool, Ferrigno was able to raise between $5,000 and $6,000 to help Klemovitch with the financial burden of treatments.

“Reverend Don Rivers from Racing With Jesus Ministries has a booth at the show and he asked me to bring the pink car to help raise awareness about cancer and at the same time to raise some funds for Marla,” said Ferrigno.

“We’ll have Joey’s car in the booth to go along with our RWJM tee shirts and hoodies and we’re going to donate 25% of the proceeds to Marla to help with her medical expenses,” said Don Rivers of RWJM. “We know she’s had a tough battle and we’re going to do our best to help her out.”
