Stafford Speedway & Mr. Rooter Add Open Comp Truck Race to the NAPA Spring Sizzler
Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Speedway and Vinny Beedle, owner of Mr. Rooter have announced the addition of a 25-lap open-comp-style truck event to the Saturday portion of the NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler on April 23. The winner of the race will take home $1,000.
“I’m excited about being involved with Stafford and the opportunity that the Arute family is giving me to bring the trucks back to race there,” said Vinny Beedle, owner of Mr. Rooter. “We’re going to give $1,000 to the winner and we should attract a lot of trucks for the race. We’ll have a second race later in the season that we’ll announce the date for at a later time.”
The truck race rules will be based on the New England Truck Series rules, but will be adjusted to make all styles of trucks eligible to run in an open-comp-style event.
“We’re going to be working in conjunction with the NETS on rules and staff, but we’re going to make these two Mr. Rooter Truck races open to all styles of trucks,” said Beedle. “We’re welcoming all trucks for these two races and we’re working on a set of rules for these two races that we’ll be announcing shortly.”
Trucks have had a very brief history at Stafford with 2 races during the 2012 season, one race in 2013, and one race in 2015. Duane Noll and Corey Coates were the Stafford feature winners in 2012, Zach Sylvester used his SK Modified® and Late Model experience at Stafford to help him win the 2013 event and Roger Turbush was the truck winner this past season. The Mr. Rooter Truck races will be 25-laps in distance and the fields will be set through 8-lap heat races.
