Impending Inclement Weather Forces STN Cancellation
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 7, 2016) – It’s the Short Track Nationals that simply wasn’t meant to be.
After the 28th edition of the prestigious COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires at I-30 Speedway was plagued by rain last October to the point of getting only one of four nights in the books, this weekend’s makeup event set for March 10-12 is facing even more menacing weather forecasts.
As a result, I-30 Speedway officials are left with no choice but to cancel this weekend’s STN event. The event will not be rescheduled.
“We desperately wanted to get this event in for all the fans and race teams that have built this into the mega-event that it has become,” track promoter Tracey Clay commented. “This weekend’s weather forecast is beyond dismal, so it’s in everybody’s best interest to call it off early. Now, we’ll look forward to making the 29th Short Track Nationals in November the best one yet.”
With the cancellation, I-30 Speedway will now kick off the season on Saturday night, March 19, with a full card of Interstate Cup Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Micro Sprints and Mini Stocks.
While Mother Nature will land on tee-shirts as the winner of the 28th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires, the 29th edition that once again offers up a $15,000 winner’s share is set for November 2-5.
