North East Street Stock Tour Adds Two Championship Events

Speedway 51 and Second New-London Waterford Date on Schedule

NO. STONINGTON, CT – Officials from the North East Street Stock Tour (NESST) announced the addition of two race events to the 2016 schedule. The start-up stock cars series, which races later model Chevrolet and Ford production cars, will now contest ten championship events, spanning from Connecticut to northern New Hampshire.

Speedway 51, located in Groveton, NH, will host NESST for a 51-lap event on Saturday, August 20. The event will also feature a complimentary barbeque for all NESST teams in the pit area. Inaugural Champion, Joe Arena (Bristol, CT), and Anthony Belfiore (Haverhill, MA) both won events at the ¼-mile bullring in 2015.

“I like that place,” recalled Arena. They’ve done a lot of work there, and the track is fun, too. I’m really glad that we are going back there in 2016,” the reigning NESST Champion went on to say.

The New London-Waterford Speedbowl has added a second NESST event, also. In addition to the May 28 visit to the 3/8-mile shoreline oval, the Street Stocks will return September 10 for another 35-lap main event. Last year, local racer Josh Galvin (Oakdale, CT) secured the victory for the home team. Two NESST regulars, who, ironically, are both from Waterford finished second and third, respectively. Moose Douton was the runner-up and Jim Boyle finished third.

“We’re delighted to be going back to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl for two trips this season. The track is located in the heart of our market, and always offers great side-by-side racing. It’s always fun to see how our NESST regulars fair against the local Limited Sportsman drivers,” OTB Executive Vice President, Josh Vanada, said.

The North East Street Stock Tour will kick off their 2016 championship season with the 42nd running of the Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 9.
