Evergreen Looking Forward To Opening Weekend and First Tour Type Modified Show

St. Johns, PA (4/10/2016)- With Opening Weekend straight ahead, the regular 2016 racing season is set to kick off at Evergreen Raceway in St. Johns, PA. The track will host an open practice session on Saturday, April 16 and then Opening Day, which will feature the Evergreen Modifieds, Dirt Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders is slated for Sunday, April 17.

Many teams are excited about hitting the 1/3-mile asphalt oval for the first time since the 2014 season and a slew of others are anxious about competing at the speedway for their very first time.

The following Sunday (April 24), Evergreen will host their first Tour Type Modified show of the season and there’s no doubt that the 50-lap show will be a barnburner.

Plenty of Tour Type Modified drivers up and down the east coast have shown interest in the event, which will pay $2,000 and $175 to start, if 16 or more cars take the green flag.

There is a four tire rule in effect for the show, meaning that all competing drivers must use the same set of tires for both the heat and feature event. Drivers are required to purchase a minimum of two right side Hoosier track tires, which are the Hoosier 1330. Drivers are allowed to compete with the Hoosier 1320 or M20s on the left side of their cars. Tires are available at the track and can be purchased by cash, check or credit card (3% fee processing fee applies).

Grandstand admission for Opening Day on April 17 is set at $8 for adults. Children 12 years of age and younger are admitted for free with a paying adult.

Grandstand admission for the first Tour Type Modified event on April 24 is just $15 for adults, and as always, children 12 years of age and younger are admitted for free with a paying adult.

The pit gate will swing open at 10:30 AM for both events and the pit entrance fee is $30 with a pit license or $40 without. Practice will kick off at 12:30 PM and heat races will begin at 2 PM. The grandstand gates will open at 12:30 PM.

Evergreen Raceway is located minutes from Hazleton, PA, in between routes 93 and 309.
