Bobby Pelland To Travel To Different Tracks This Season – YankeeRacer.com

Bobby Pelland To Travel To Different Tracks This Season

Bobby Pelland out of Cranston, RI will be running different tracks this season. Pelland will run his Pro Stock at Seekonk Speedway in their season opener on Saturday May 1st and see how it goes.. He is also planning to take the late model to Seekonk Speedway, New London-Waterford Speedbowl and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park and also the ACT Tour.

Pelland kicked off his 2016 season by running the ACT Tour season opener at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine back on April 17th.  Pelland had a blast at Oxford. He would start in the 26th position and finish 17th on the lead lap.

“ I was very proud of my team.  It was the first time out with a new car and they got it better every practice.  Then to work through adversity start deep in the field and finish on the lead lap. I was ecstatic. I think we had a better car than where we ended up but track position played a huge role.” Pelland Said

Pelland will not be points racing this season as he has been very busy with a work and school schedule. He is looking forward to having some fun. “ Honestly we are just going to take it week by week. I’ve been racing for points the last 5-6 years. I am so busy with work and school. I really just want to focus on having fun this year.”

He feels that points racing adds more stress. “ It kind of traps you if you’re running good you don’t want to take a car to a Thompson or an ACT race on a Sunday because you don’t want to risk it. I really want to have fun this year. Every Sunday, I plan on evaluating where we’re at and go from there.”

One of the other races Pelland is planning to run is the U.S. National Pro Stock/Super Late Model Championship race at Seekonk Speedway on Wednesday night July 13th.  The ACT Tour this season will be doing a Southern New England Triple crown. It will start at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday night May 21st for a 100 lap event.  The second event will be the Propane Plus 150 at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday night July 16th and the third and final event in the Southern New England Triple Crown will be held on the World Series Of Racing Weekend at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park where it will be a 75 lap race and that race will be held on Saturday night October 15th where the 2016 ACT Tour Champion will be crowned as well as a Southern New England Triple Crown Champion will also be crowned.. There will be a $7,500 dollar point fund in the Southern New England Triple Crown for the local weekly competitors.

Pelland is very happy that the ACT Tour has spread down to Southern New England. He loves the ACT rules package and that the cars are fun to drive.  He is very excited for the Southern New England Triple Crown. “ I am excited for the Triple Crown because it is bringing some of the best racers in the country to our home tracks. It will allow people who can’t usually run ACT races for one another to attempt it and make themselves better. The ACT race at Seekonk is the race I am looking forward to most this year.”

Pelland always feels that racing on the ACT Tour is cost effective. “ Racing in general has always been expensive but lately with technology. It is getting out of hand. Tom Curley and the ACT officials have done the best they can to keep up with technology while keeping racing as cost efficient as possible.”

Pelland would like to run the ACT Tour full time in the near future. He knows though that will come down to having money, time, and having the crew to travel. “ Most of my crew members have a family and obviously that comes first.  I hope to run the full tour one day though.”

Pelland would like to thank his sponsors A&A Auto Parts, Donald’s Car Corner, Buco & Buco Accounting & Payroll Services, Marchettis Restaurant, MVP Recruitment, and Roll-A-Way Disposal. He would also like to thank his father, Mike & Ryan Vanasse, Jeff Belyea, Danny Perry, Ron Green, Derryck Anderson, Eric Millar and Jay Benavides.

Pelland’s goals for this season is to have fun and unload a car that he knows that he and his race team have their best work into. “ If we do that the speed and results will come.”

Seekonk Speedway will have their season opener on Sunday May 1st. The program will kick off at 1:00 P.M.
