Erin Vien Returning To Claremont Speedway
Erin Vien out of Andover, NH will make a return to the Claremont Speedway in the Limited Sportsman division. Vien took a couple years off after Canaan Speedway in Canaan, NH shut down in 2013. Vien felt after the 2013 season once Canaan shut down that it was time to take a step back and reevaluate.
Vien is more than excited to return to the track this season racing at Claremont Speedway. Vien is hoping to run the full schedule at Claremont as it will depend on sponsorship and how the first half of the season that goes. She looks forward to racing with her car owner Chris Emerson and her dad Scott Vien. Her father Scott has taught her everything about racing which is having patience when she needs it. Fill in the hole when it opens and never be intimidated. “ I love racing against him because he makes me earn it. Never got a position I didn’t deserve and got an ear full if I drove over my head.”
Vien has raced at New Hampshire tracks such as Canaan Speedway, White Mountain Motorsports Park, and Riverside Speedway which is now Speedway 51 in Groveton, NH. She got her start in the Kids Truck division at White Mountain Motorsports Park. She then ran pure stocks at Canaan Speedway which was the Hobby Class there for a few years and then she tried out Super Streets. She went back to pure stocks for a few seasons and then drove a dwarf car and then back to the pure stocks.
What she is looking forward to besides being in a race car is just being back at the track and getting to see the people she has not seen in a long time and having that crazy competitive nature again of racing on the track.
Vien also has other duties at the track as she works for Speedway Safety Services when they visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. She is a Firefigher/EMT. She had the chance to work on pit road last summer. She usually works the night shift at the Magic Mile on the Grounds and the shifts could be from 7 P.M. until 7 A.M. or 8 P.M. until 8 A.M. Some of her duties were to have the trucks ready for the next day. She would respond to Medical Emergency calls on the grounds of New Hampshire Motor Speedway and respond accordingly.
She would like to thank her dad Scott Vien and her car owner Chris Emerson. “ They’re the two that never second guessed me.”
Her goals for the 2016 season are to have some fun and get more involved in local short track racing. Claremont Speedway will kick off their 2016 season this upcoming Friday night April 29th.
