Frank Hughes, Jr. Finds Victory Prior to Hail Postponing Features at Evergreen Raceway

St. Johns, PA (5/15/2016)- This spring has shown race fans and drivers all kinds of weather in northeastern, Pennsylvania and this weekend was no different for Evergreen Raceway’s “Pack the Track” event on Sunday. After getting the qualifying races completed, rain and sleet soaked the racing surface. Track officials and racers were able to bring the track back for racing and Frank Hughes, Jr. of Pittston earned his first Four Cylinder win of the season when the event was cut short to 14-laps, due to hail falling from the sky.

Frank Hughes, Jr. started from the pole position of the Four Cylinder feature. He led the opening lap over Cody Geist, Jay Skupski, Devin Schmidt and Ron Heeter.

After several yellows in the early going, Hughes continued to hold the lead over Geist. Meanwhile, Shayne Geist cracked the top five and Brayden Spencer overtook Schmidt for third.

Gray clouds approached and just as moisture began to fall, the yellow flag waved on lap 14 when Kyle Krempasky spun in turns three and four. Kyle Scisco and Skupski were also collected.

Shortly after, hail began covering the ground and Hughes we deemed the winner over C. Geist, Spencer, Schmidt and Heeter.
