Pollard Remains Perfect on Dirt at His Home Track

SENOIA, Ga. –Bubba Pollard is known as one of the top Late Model drivers in the country. While his reign mostly comes on asphalt, the Senoia, Georgia driver remains perfect on dirt, as he is now three for three in 2016. His latest win came last weekend at his home track of Senoia Raceway (GA).

“It’s pretty cool to be able to win in front of the hometown crowd that doesn’t get to see me race often. It’s special to me and my family to be able to win at the track that my grandfather built,” said Pollard.

Pollard set fast time earlier in the day and started from the pole position. After the drop of the green, he fell back to second for the first few laps, but made use of a restart to retake the lead and hold on for the win.

“Right before the caution came out I jumped to the high side, and I felt like there was a lot of grip,” said Pollard. “When we took back off on the restart I was able to make the pass for the lead on the outside.”

The 29-year-old driver returns to his comfort zone this weekend for the Southern Super Series Gulf Coast doubleheader. On Friday, Pollard and his No. 26 machine heads to Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida and then Saturday he’ll make the trip quick over to Mobile International Speedway (AL). Last year Pollard was able to complete the Gulf Coast sweep and he looks to try his hand at two in a row again this year.

“I think Pensacola is a little different, the tires are different and I think we have a lot to learn before we go to the Derby,” said Pollard. “I always look forward to going to Mobile, it is one of my favorite race tracks we go too. I think it takes a lot of patients to be able to win at both places.”
