Kar Kare CarStar of Ellington Providing $350 Bonus to Winner of Senior Champs Kart Race at Stafford Speedway
Stafford Springs, CT — New for 2016 the Wild Thing Karts’ Senior Champs division will take to the Stafford Speedway mini-mile as part of the July 1st NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program. Added to the scheduled event will be an added bonus for a $350 win bonus from Kar Kare CARSTAR Auto Body and Rhino Linings. Ron Midford, Jr., a former two-time champion of the Senior Champs division, will be participating in the 30-lap race on July 1st to try to win the $350 that he is supplying for the race through Kar Kare.
“I haven’t raced the karts for a couple years now with the birth of my son, but I’m going to come back on a Monday before the race to kind of get back into things,” said Midford. “I’ve always thought it would have been cool to have the Senior Champs division as part of the Friday night program at Stafford and when I saw the race on the 2016 Stafford schedule, my first thought was I’m going to race in the show that night. Secondly, we thought we’d put some money on the line for the race and it’s a great sponsorship opportunity for us at KarKare. I think a win on Monday nights is worth $50, so there’s some money on the line and hopefully that will help attract a lot of karts to the track that night and it’ll be a great show.”
Drivers will need to pre-register with Wild Thing Karts for the race, which will be a 30-lap feature around the Stafford mini-mile. Drivers will draw for a starting position in a 12-lap heat race and the feature lineup will be determined from heads-up results from each heat race. Drivers can find a pre-registration form on www.wildthingkarts.com.
“This is a unique opportunity for Senior Champ kart drivers throughout the Northeast to be spotlighted during a Friday night race program at Stafford,” said Wade Gagner, founder of the Wild Thing Kart Series. “We’re hoping that this race will attract drivers from as far south as New Jersey and Pennsylvania and we’re hoping to have at least 30 karts for the race. We’ll have a pre-registration form available online at www.wildthingkarts.com and all drivers must pre-register if they want to run in this race.”
The Wild Thing Karts will join Stafford’s SK Modifieds®, Late Models, SK Lights, Limited Late Models, and DARE Stocks in feature action on Friday, July 1st. There will be a second Wild Thing Karts Friday night race later in the 2016 season when the Junior Outlaws take to the mini-mile on July 22nd for the Mid-Season Stretch event.
