Granite State Pro Stocks Ready for Lee USA Speedway

Granite State Pro Stocks Set for Lee; Griffith, Cabral Return to Action

WALPOLE, NH — Two races down, nine left to go for the New England based Granite State Pro Stock Series during the 2016 campaign.

Jacob Dore scored the victory at White Mt. Motorsports Park in the opener two weeks ago and 2013 series champion Mike O’Sullivan returned to GSPSS victory lane last weekend on the high-banks of Monadnock Speedway.

With two races into the record books, the series is ready for race three — another 100 lap feature event. This time, it will happen on the 3/8 mile Lee USA Speedway in Lee, New Hampshire. It will be the first Friday night race of the season for the GSPSS on Friday, June 3.

Series defending champion Derek Griffith, who missed the first two races due to outside obligations, will return to competition this Friday night at Lee. He hopes to come back strong and get right back into victory lane, a place he has visited many times before in competition with the series.

“Lee is the first place I ever won in a Pro Stock,” Griffith said. “I am super excited to return to the GSPSS this Friday night. I am bummed I missed the first couple of races, but I am really looking forward to seeing everyone once again.”

Runner-up last weekend at Monadnock — DJ Shaw — will be back in action this coming Friday night as well. O’Sullivan, who held off Shaw in the final laps at Monadnock, will search his second straight win.

Mike Mitchell, who has started his Rookie of the Year voyage on the GSPSS with a sixth and a fourth, will be back in action. Veteran and 2012 series champion Bobby Cabral will also return at Lee, making his first start of the season.

Former winners with the GSPSS at Lee include Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., who held off Larry Gelinas and Griffith in the series inaugural race at the track in 2014. Last year, Jeremy Davis drove away from the rest of the field and held off Griffith and Matt Frahm to score the checkered flag.

On Friday, the pit gates open for teams at 2 p.m. The GSPSS will practice at 4 p.m. and heat racing will begin at 7 p.m.. The GSPSS is last in the feature order, with an approximate green flag time of 9 p.m.
