Monadnock Hosting VMRS / Victor Johnson Memorial 100 Saturday
Canaan, NH. — The Valenti Modified Racing Series and Monadnock Speedway remembers one of its own Saturday night, August 20, with the running of the annual ‘Victor Johnson Memorial 100,’ in honor of the former modified racer who lost his life in a house fire five years ago.
The race, the third of three at Monadnock this season and sponsored by Swanzey Oil, of West Swanzey, NH, marks the final appearance of the year for the VMRS at the Winchester, NH, oval.
Top point men Jon McKennedy, Mike Willis Jr, Chris Pasteryak, Todd Patnode, and David Schneider, in that order, are expected entries.
Reigning champion Woody Pitkat, Russ Hersey, Rob Richardi, Richard Savary, Geoff Gerhard, and Branden Dion, are also expected at Monadnock.
Last month, McKennedy electrified the Monadnock crowd when he passed Hersey on the last lap, racing to the checkered flag, to secure the win.
McKennedy, coming off his fifth victory of the year two weeks ago at Waterford, CT, has a 120-point lead over Willis Jr, with five races left on the schedule after the Monadnock event.
Heat races begin at 6:00 PM.with feature races rolling off at approximately 7:00 PM.
