WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – Aug. 28, 2016 -The Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds will be back in action this week as they head to Lebanon Valley Speedway on Thursday, Sept. 1 paying a hefty $17,500 to the winner and to Weedsport Speedway on Monday, Sept. 5 paying $7,500 to the winner for a lucrative Labor Day weekend.
“We are all looking forward to a very big Labor Day weekend starting off with the prestigious Mr. Dirt Track USA race at Howie Commander’s Lebanon Valley Speedway and ending at a MAVTV televised event at one of the nicest tracks in the country, Weedsport Speedway,” said Mike Perrotte, DIRTcar North East Series Director.
Last year it was Stewart Friesen who dogged pole sitter Brett Hearn for 98 laps and went by him as he ran out of gas to win the Super DIRTcar Series Mr. Dirt Track USA 100 for a $17,500 payday.
“My eyes got big when I saw him slowing down,” Friesen said. “We’ll take it. Sometimes the racing gods smile on you.”
On the final restart on lap 57, Hearn shot out to his biggest lead while Friesen tried to keep in touch and Andy Bachetti, Tyler Dippel and Matt Sheppard fought hard for third place.
“We went with a hard tire,” Friesen said. “Sometimes it would fire on the restarts and sometimes it wouldn’t. I got back to him in the traffic those last few laps. Owner Jeff Daley gave me a good car.”
The top five respectively were Friesen, Matt Sheppard, Andy Bachetti, Tyler Dippel and Kenny Tremont Jr.
Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds make their second stop of the 2016 season at Weedsport for 100 laps and $7,500 to win.
An extremely congested northeast schedule through mid-July had forced Weedsport Speedway’s management to make the tough decision to postpone their originally scheduled July 24th event featuring Big-Block Modifieds and the Empire Sprints.
On Monday, September 5th Weedsport Speedway will welcome the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified tour, along with the 360 Sprint Car racers in the Northeast, and will broadcast on MAVTV Speed Sport.
After the lavish Labor Day weekend, the series then heads to Le RPM Speedway in Saint-Marcel-de-Richelieu, Que. on Friday, Sept. 9th and Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Que. on Saturday, Sept. 10th.
