Hall of Fame Classic Time at CSP

PEORIA, Ariz. (September 28, 2016) – It’s Hall of Fame Classic time at Canyon Speedway Park which means it’s also time for the lone USAC/CRA Sprint Car weekend of the year atop the 1/3-mile clay oval near Phoenix.

While the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars take center stage on Friday and Saturday at the 16th Annual Sands Chevrolet USAC Hall of Fame Classic, the IMCA Stock Cars, Micro Sprints, Mod Lites and Vintage Cars will be in action as well.

The weekend double will be preceded by an open practice session on Thursday night from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Racing action on Friday and Saturday gets under way at 7:00 p.m.

Vying for a fourth consecutive USAC/CRA crown, Concord, California native Damion Gardner leads the way into the weekend with a 104-point advantage over Visalia’s Richard Vander Weerd in the title chase.

Along with Gardner and Vander Weerd, other top USAC/CRA contenders include the likes of Jake Swanson, Brody Roa, Austin Williams and five-time series champion Mike Spencer.  CSP aces such as R.J. Johnson, Charles Davis, Jr., and Mike Martin will be among those in action as well.

Gardner and Spencer split Hall of Fame Classic honors last year at CSP with Roa the only driver to land on the podium on both nights with finishes of second and third.

Jimmy Blanton, Grand Marshal for the event, will be among several Arizona racing legends scheduled to sign autographs as the Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame inducts a handful of new members.

George Fronsman leads the Allscapes IMCA Stock Car vs. SCRA Stock Cars ranks into the weekend with last weekend’s triumph running his overall win total for the year at CSP to eleven triumphs.

Ryan Hennessey bested the Micro Sprints last weekend while John Priest has taken three of the last four Western Mod Lite wins at CSP.

Tickets for the 16th Annual Sands Chevrolet Hall of Fame Classic are just $20 on Friday and $25 on Saturday with children ages 7-12 just $10.  VIP Suite passes are available for $30 on Friday and $35 on Saturday with All Access Passes for $35 on Friday and $40 on Saturday.
