Grala Earns Career Best NCWTS Finish at Hometown Track

Kaz Grala recorded a career-best NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) finish Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In just his seventh series start, the Westborough, Massachusetts driver brought home his third top 10 and a season high seventh-place finish with his GMS Motorsports team at “The Magic Mile.”

“On Saturday we really put together one of our best races of the year,” Grala said. “We’ve had speed all year honestly, we’ve just needed the luck and track position to finish according to our speed. The whole No. 24 GMS Racing crew executed this weekend and gave us a pretty good result. I definitely think there’s more where that came from, especially as I get more used to these trucks.”

If there was ever a track for the 17-year-old driver to put together his strongest run of the year, this was it. For Grala, a Massachusetts native, the track in Loudon, New Hampshire is as close as he gets to home in the big leagues of NASCAR. To be able to shine in front of the hometown crown made his strong run even more special.

“It’s good enough to get my best finish in the Truck Series so far, but to get it in front of the hometown crowd makes it that much bigger,” Grala stated. “There couldn’t have been a better place to have a good result, not only for friends and family, but also for sponsors and fans. It was very important that we have a smooth successful weekend, and I feel like we did just that.”

Grala also continues to sport his new Descartes colors on his No. 24 machine this past weekend. The GMS team welcomed the new sponsor on board at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park earlier this month and will continues to carry their name for his final two NCWTS events of the year.

“We’ve been lucky enough to have Descartes on board for the last two Truck races,” said Grala. “We’re very excited to have them on the truck as well as to have the support of all their employees at the track. We are continuing to work with Sweet Baby Ray’s on hopefully doing more with them in the future. They’re a perfect fit for our sport and I’d love to be a part of their entry into NASCAR.”

Grala is slated to run the NCWTS events at Martinsville Speedway (VA) and Phoenix International Raceway (AZ) to end the year.
