Free Video Stream of Snowball Derby Preview on Speed51.com
Pensacola, FL — With money on the line, race teams will head to Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway on November 19 for the Snowball Derby Preview. The annual preview event allows race teams to test prior to the 49th Annual Snowball Derby and allows fans to get their first look at the stars that will be racing on December 1-4.
For the second straight year, those unable to make it to the Snowball Derby Preview will still be able to get a taste of the event from home. Speed51.com and Five Flags Speedway have partnered to bring race fans a free live video stream of the final three hours of the day’s practice sessions.
“Tim Bryant (Promoter, Five Flags Speedway) and Speed51.com wanted to do something cool for all the teams testing during the Snowball Derby Preview,” said Bob Dillner, Executive Editor of Speed51.com. “Now while teams and drivers chase some big bucks and some fast laps, anyone across the globe can tune in as we will offer a free video stream at that time. It’ll give people a chance to size everyone up for the Snowball Derby a couple weeks later.”
Among the divisions testing at the Pensacola oval will be Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, Pro Trucks, Super Stocks, Bombers, Modifieds and Sportsman. Teams will have a three-hour window from 4-7 p.m. CT to record the fastest lap of the day.
Speed51.com’s cameras will be rolling throughout that three-hour window so that fans can keep up with who is fast in advance of the 49th Annual Snowball Derby.
Fans will need to sign up for a free Speed51.com basic membership in order to access the live broadcast that day. If you are interested in being a sponsor of the live coverage please send your inquiry to bd51sports@gmail.com.
A $500 cash bonus will be up for grabs for Super Late Model drivers, while Pro Late Model competitors will be chasing a $300 prize. Pro Trucks, Super Stocks, Modifieds and Sportsman will compete for a $200 bonus per division. $150 will go to the Bomber driver with the fastest lap.
To be eligible for the Fast Lap Cash Award, cars must have track-issued transponders ($20 rental fee). Divisions will run on a rotating basis and all cars are subject to random technical inspection to ensure a level playing field for the bonuses.
Young star Harrison Burton won the Super Late Model fast-lap prize of $500 at the 2015 Snowball Derby preview, beating out Jerry Artuso by a slim margin of .004 seconds.
Canadian driver Martin Latulippe (Pro Late Models), Chase Oliver (Modifieds), Steven Davis (Pro Trucks), Dustin Knowles (Super Stocks), Brandon Fowler (Sportsman) and Gino Denmark (Bomber) each took home extra cash in 2015.
